SCOOP SERVICES
SCOOP is working towards a service oriented architecture implementation consisting of distributed web services for much of the integration components between the various SCOOP partner systems, such as the data archives, data catalog, and visualization applications. Many of these services are publicly available through standard web service interfaces. Documentation for the SCOOP web service interfaces are available for use by other scientists and other applications.
SCOOP is deploying distributed functionality through a service-oriented architecture using web services. Documentation necessary for users and applications to utilize these services is available below, grouped by functional categories.
These functions may also be accessed via web interfaces, using the menu links in the navigation bar at left.
- Catalog Services
- The catalog services provide access to the SCOOP metadata at the collection level. Facilities are provided to retrieve valid search parameters, to perform a catalog search, to retrieve details about a collection, and to return a list of files that may be downloaded via hyperlinks or ordered from the data archive site.
- Inventory Services
- The inventory services provide access to the SCOOP file level information. To provide security, the catalog site requires SSL connections for insert and delete services.
- Model Services
- The model services provide facilities for exploring SCOOP model characteristics and for determining which collections use the models.
- Storm Services
- The storm services provide access to storm track data for previous and current hurricane seasons. A service is also provided to locate SCOOP data collections which may have data pertinent to a selected storm.
- Web Map Service
- WMS provides Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard Web Map request on storm data.
- Acronym Translation Service
- The acronym service may be used to expand an acronym to its full value, or to get a list of all acronyms and values, given a context.
